Bob Brown comes to Kingscliff

By TANIA PHILLIPS

HE is Australia’s best-known Greens politician and he is coming to Kingscliff Community Hall.
Federal candidate for Richmond, Dawn Walker is hosting a visit to the Tweed coast by Dr Bob Brown, former leader of the Australian Greens and retired federal senator.
Dr Brown will speak at the Kingscliff Community Hall on Saturday 29 June at 12.30pm till 1.30pm.
He will share stories of life in federal politics and his exciting new work as chairperson of the Bob Brown Foundation.
“I can’t tell you how excited we are to have Bob Brown visit the Tweed coast. This is a great opportunity to hear from a truly courageous man who has never wavered in his belief in both the environment and the spirit of the Australian people.” said Dawn Walker.
“Bob is very supportive of the work we are doing here for the environment and the wider Tweed community. He has made a point of coming to Kingscliff to support our federal election campaign and that of the lead Senate candidate, Cate Faehrmann,” Dawn Walker said.
Since retiring from the Senate last year, Dr Brown set up the Bob Brown Foundation to work on environmental issues around the country. He assisted in the successful campaign against the world’s biggest gas factory at James Price Point and worked with Sea Shepherd to take the Steve Irwin to the Kimberley Coast for the whale season. This whale tour drew national and international attention and contributed directly to saving James Price Point.
The Foundation is now campaigning to save The Tarkine, the Great Barrier Reef and the Antarctic whales.
Tickets available at Boardwalk Books, Marine Parade, Kingscliff for $15 each. Limited number available. Phone enquiries on (02) 6674 5777 or email dawnwalkergreens@gmail.com
