LA FRANÇOISE, A Festival of French Music in Australia’s New England will be held from this Friday night to Sunday evening.
The Armidale Uniting Church will be filled with music by performers from Broken Hill, Newcastle, Brisbane, Walcha, Uralla, and of course Armidale.
As well as delighting audiences with the popular Jan-Piet’s Choice in the Uniting Church every Wednesday lunchtime, Dr Jan-Piet Knijff has organised another superb music festival – the third within a year.
It follows a one-day Beethoven Festival last June and a whole weekend of Brahms and Dvorak last November. Like its predecessors, La Francoise combines local performers and those from further away, amateurs as well as professionals of all age groups.
“Despite its highly inclusive character, the programming is creative and appealing,” Dr Jan-Piet Knijff said.
“There is something for everyone, including a free concert for and by children, and songs by Piaf and Brel as well as music by the great French composers.“Audiences frequently comment on the high quality of performances in our two previous festivals. This one will be of the same high standard.”
