Lions clubs’ cabinet meeting captures ideas

Lions Club members from New England, North West and the North Coast held a Cabinet Meeting in Uralla over the weekend.

Some forty-seven portfolio delegates conferred, reported on, planned and discussed a range of topics of interest to Lions District 201N1.

Lions District Governor, Deyann McDonnell, said matters on the weekend Cabinet Meeting agenda covered national disasters, including bushfires and floods.

“Recent assistance has included a 500-bale truckload of hay to Coonabarabran, and $6000 to replace damaged goods in the commercial centre of Moree,” she said.

“A grant application for flood victims in the Clarence Valley was also approved by the Lions Club International Foundation.

“Cabinet Meetings hear of updated achievements and progress in a range of portfolios including leadership, membership, youth, medical/health, and marketing/public relations.

“Uralla was chosen for the weekend meeting to lift the profile of the local Lions branch club, and the benefit Lions brings to the community.”

Lions are members of Lions Clubs International, a community service organisation dedicated to the idea that men and women who live in a community are in the best position to know who needs help and why.

Local clubs are part of the world’s largest such organisation, with 1.3 million members serving in more than 200 countries and areas.

The organisation is both non-political and non-sectarian.
