Charity weekend put Tweed on the map

A large contingent of celebrities  are set to converge on the Tweed Coast later this year to help out a couple of mates.
Dual international footballer, Mat Rogers, and his media identity wife, Chloe Maxwell, will be bringing their highly successful charity weekend south from its usual home at Sanctuary Cove to Salt Village in December.
The 4 ASD Kids Weekend, which will raise money for the couple’s charity, will be held at Salt Village over three days from December 16 to 18 and will involve a jam-packed calendar of fund-raising events including gala charity functions, a celebrity golf day, ladies’ brunch, a fishing expedition, beach and tennis activities, premium live entertainment, fireworks and a strong celebrity contingent.
The event will coincide with the annual Salt Village Carols by the Beach which promise to be bigger and better than ever  and will open up the 4 ASD Kids fundraising campaign to the wider community.
Chloe and Matt said they founded the 4 ASD Kids charity in 2009 after their son was diagnosed with autism. She said, while the couple could afford the treatment their son needed, they found that there were many in the community that couldn’t.
“We decided to use our celebrity for good instead of evil,” she laughed.
“It’s a young charity – it’s only been around for a short time but it’s raised more than half a million dollars.”
Matt said, ironically the two of the first children helped were from the Tweed region.
The couple said they had enjoyed holding the event at Sanctuary Cove but were just looking for a “sea change” for the event and the Tweed Coast fit the bill.
“The 4 ASD Kids event is a major coup for the Tweed, bringing a range of high profile celebrities and media exposure to the region,” said Destination Tweed CEO, Phil Villiers.
“It has previously been held at Sanctuary Cove, featuring celebrities such as Adam Scott, Guy Sebastian, Charlotte Dawson, Corrine Grant, Matty Johns, Robbie McEwan, Natalie Cook, Dave Faulkner, Paulini, Jon Stevens, Melinda Schneider, Mark Gable, and Titans & Wallabies players.
“We are thrilled that the organisers have chosen to hold this year’s event at the fantastic community facilities we have available at Salt Central Park and we know it will attract strong corporate support from the Tweed, as well as the wider Gold Coast and Northern Rivers area.”
4 ASD Kids is a not- for-profit organisation dedicated to raising money to support children and families with Autism Spectrum Disorders so they may receive the treatment that can provide them with the best chance of a normal life.
The charity was founded by dual international rugby player, Mat Rogers and his media identity wife, Chloe Maxwell in 2009 after they went public about their son’s battle with Autism.
The overwhelming response they received from the community prompted them to launch 4 ASD Kids to raise awareness of Autism in Australia and to conduct fundraising campaigns to directly assist families who don’t have the resources to fund the early intervention programs.
4 ASD Kids are already supporting children into programs on the Gold Coast and have big goals to help many more, including families in the Tweed region.
The 4 ASD Kids Weekend is their major annual fundraising event.
