Everyone loves a circus

It was a full house as eager circus-goers flocked to the Great Moscow Circus’ opening night at Jack Evans Boatharbour, Tweed Heads last week.
And it was all in a good cause, with the opening night of the circus, one of the first events to be held at the newly refurbished parklands, serving double duty as the Mayor’s Charity event.
With the circus donating the performance, the night raised nearly $20,000 for local hospitals.
The money will be split between the Murwillumbah and Tweed Hospital auxiliaries – with many members of both groups on hand to watch the performance and help with the raffles.
Also in attendance were new mayor Cr  Barry Longland and his predessor Kevin Skinner, who had chosen the auxiliaries as the beneficiaries of the charity performance.
And they weren’t disappointed, with the world-famous circus putting on a performance that wowed the audiences – young and old alike.
The circus had its last perform-ance at Tweed on October 16.
