GOLD Coast vet and adventurer Dr Geoff Wilson and his “boob sled” which was slightly dinged up after a recent warm-up event in New Zealand were the toast of the day at the Saltbar Pink Polar Expedition fund-raising event.
Geoff will take his uniquely shaped sled across Antarctica in November. He is hoping to raise more than $1 million for the McGrath Foundation.
The fund-raising trek is in support of his good friend news broadcaster Kate Carlyle who is recovering from her second fight with breas tcancer.
The duo met through Kate’s dogs and later worked together and now they and their spouses have become great friends.
On hand to also bring the message of breast cancer and learning to check your breasts was Tracy Bevan of the McGrath Foundation who talked about her good friend Jane McGrath who lost her battle with the disease.
However it was not a morbid or sad event with plenty of fun, frivolity and fund-raising.
