ARMIDALE Dumaresq Council is proposing to increase general rates by the rate peg of 3.4 per cent in the next financial year.
Non rates notice charges will also be reviewed with the water access charge to reduce by $5 a year and water usage charges to increase between one cent and seven cents per kilolitre a year, dependent on the volume of water used.
The domestic waste management charge to increase by $9.45 and the landfill charge by $4.30 a year; residential sewer charges are proposed to increase by $11.50 a year.
At its meeting last week, Armidale Dumaresq Council (ADC) resolved to put out the following draft documents, grouped under the integrated planning and reporting framework, for further public input:
– Armidale Dumaresq Community Strategic Plan (2013-’28);
– Delivery program (four years); and
– Operational plan (one year).
“The non-rate notice charges are proposed to be generally increased by around three per cent with some charges increasing significantly more, as council moves towards full cost recovery,” ADC Mayor, Cr Jim Maher said.
One such significant increase is a change from $1 to $2 for children under five years admitted to the Monckton Aquatic Centre.
There are some proposed new charges in the planning and development area.
The mayor encourages members of the community to read the various documents under the Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework and consider making a submission prior to the closing date of 12 June 2013 at 5pm.
The various documents are available at council’s offices, the ADC War Memorial Library and Kent House. Electronic copies may be downloaded from council’s website www.armidale.nsw.gov.au
