Kingscliff entertainer Jayne Henry has entered this year’s council election with a strong team of women and a little help from current Cr Kevin Skinner.
Henry heads up an almost entirely female ticket, includ-ing Kerry Turner, Nicole Schiller, Rhiannon Brinsmead and current Councillor Kevin Skinner, who brings council experience to the team.
“I see the need for fresh leadership for the Tweed shire, which will implement sustainable change to restart our stalled Tweed economy,” Henry said.
“Our economy is not static – we have so much unrealised potential which we all can benefit from. If we are to meet the needs of the present, while also providing opportunities for our youth, we need a stable economy. And it is vital for our newly elected council to deliver forward-thinking initiatives to achieve this and to develop revenue opportunities in the Tweed, other than constant rate increases, to offset our increasing expenses.
“We need to plan for the future so, if we are to meet the needs of our generations to come, we have to facilitate a water solution that will sustain our growing population.
“My team and I are hard-working, motivated people who believe in improving our tourism sector, care requirements for the aged and incapacitated, developing youth mentoring programs and initiatives, small business sustainability and more jobs.”
