Walking to work proves profitable

The team from GJ Gardners Homes in Tweed Heads and their friends have raised close to $700 just by walking to work.
The group walked from McDonalds to GJ Gardners in Minjungbal Drive, South Tweed on Friday as part of the Cancer Council’s National Walk to Work Day.
Caren Leotta of GJ Gardners said it had been a chance to raise money for the Cancer Council, get fit and have a little fun.
“We have so far raised $690 with a further $500+ pledged,” she said.
“Everyone had such a great time and we hope to make this an annual event with even more participants next year.
“Not only is it a fun way to get active and healthy, it has also been an opportunity to raise funds and awareness for the Cancer Council.
“Most of us have been touched by cancer at some stage be it a family member, friend or even in our own lives. Walk to Work Day will definitely be marked on our calendar in 2012! And what a beautiful spring day!”
