Tweed Heads Police and Community Youth Club (PCYC) swings into anniversary mode this year, with their annual Charity Golf Day starting off the celebrations.
The golf day is a four-ball Ambrose event at the Coolangatta and Tweed Heads Golf Club to be held on Friday, April 1 and will be one of the first major events of the year for the club.
The club is celebrating its 20th anniversary, with major celebrations set down for later in the year.
It offers a range of sporting, recreational, fitness, childcare, educational and youth services to more than 2000 members.
A non-profit organisation, the club works in partnership with the NSW Police Force. The bulk of the more than $600,000 needed to cover its operation is raised through user fees, donations, grants and fundraising events such as the golf day.
“Events such as our Golf Day and support of the local business community is invaluable in assisting us to provide better services to local young people and to the wider community,” Club manager Mark Madden said.
Madden said there had already been good, solid support from local businesses including North’s Estate Agents, Birch Carroll and Coyle, Hoyts, local golf clubs and shops, The Good Guys and Country energy.
He said local businesses could support the event through hole sponsorship, entry of a four-player team or individually; and the provision of prizes.
