Police probe crash

POLICE investigations continue into an accident on the Pacific Highway at Chinderah on Sunday evening which killed an elderly couple.
Police said about 10pm on Sunday a Peugeot sedan and a Land Rover Discovery were travelling in opposite directions on the Pacific Highway at Chinderah, when they collided head-on.
The male driver of the Peugeot died at the scene, while his female passenger was treated by ambulance paramedics, but died on the way to hospital.
The pair is yet to be formally identified, however it’s believed they are a couple aged in their eighties.
The 20-year-old female driver of the Land Rover has been taken to Tweed Heads District Hospital for treatment of leg injuries.
