St John’s members honoured for cleanup

Kingscliff’s St John’s members have been awarded for their efforts during the 2011 QLD Flood Cleanup in a ceremony held at Kingscliff Community Centre at the weekend.
Commissioner Ken Kelman from St John Ambulance NSW, accompanied by Assistant Commissioners Didier Moutia and Colin Lott presented the awards during their visit to the town on Saturday.
Awards were presented to members of Kingscliff Division as well as northern regional staff.
QLD Flood Citations, awarded for work done in the 2011 QLD Flood cleanup, went to Kingscliff-based regional staff Fay Gleave and Rob Potts as well as Kingscliff members Dennis Trevithick, Paul Whitten, Shelley Wislon and Mark Lewin.
Also receiving awards for Years of Service were Jayne Fletcher, Les Kelly, Jared Whyborn and Jo Irby.
It was also a big day for Regional Officer Cadets – Sally Quinn was admitted to the Order of St John as a Member of the Order. This award is usually presented at the Investiture at Government House Sydney, but as Sally is unable to attend, the Commissioner kindly carried out the presentation at Kingscliff.
Following the ceremony members held a lunch with the State Staff who then inspected St John vehicles from Kingscliff and Lismore.
“It was a great opportunity for both Lismore and Kingscliff especially new members to be able to have a chat with the Commissioner and to catch up on the latest changes in the organisation,” regional staff member Fay Gleave said.
