When Rudd came to town

Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd came to town last week to help launch the Labor Party campaign for this year’s Tweed Shire Council elections in September.
Labour will field candidates Michael Armstrong and Reece Burns at the election later in the year and launched their campaign at Banora Point.
“It was a tremendous honour to have Kevin Rudd, Justine Elliot, and Walt Secord launch our team’s campaign for the Tweed Shire Council elections,” Mr Armstrong said.
“The local Labor team are committed to delivering a bright future for the Tweed, ensuring we will all be able to share in the benefits of our success, and that what we do today will also benefit the future generations who live in the Tweed.
“By working together with the community we will protect the Tweed’s unique identity, we will protect our environment, and we will ensure the Tweed’s future economic prosperity.
“While protecting the unique identity of the Tweed, our council needs to get back to basics and focus on providing the services we all need.
“It was great so many locals came to our campaign launch to support our local Labor team.”
The launch at the Salvation Army Centre was in front of a large crowd of locals and media.
