Comedic capers in Kentucky

Sound & Fury silliness returned to Kentucky last Friday night with the boys from California romping around on stage performing their latest mash up of western films and classic innuendo, Doc Faustus.
The Kentucky Memorial Hall was full, with around 100 people coming along for a good belly laugh or two, with many taking the chance this year to see the boys after hearing rave reviews about the show from last year.
Richard Maritzer, from Sound & Fury, always looks forward to shows in Australia and really loves taking the show out to small regional areas like Kentucky.
“We love coming back here to really happy audiences that appreciate great theatre,” said Richard.
“We find Australian audiences extremely friendly and welcoming; they laugh in all the right places.”
Surprisingly, Sound & Fury perform most of their shows outside of the United States, in Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia, with only a few shows in the United States every year.
“We are from Los Angeles where we almost never do shows,” said Richard.
“It is nearly impossible to do theatre in LA successfully.”
Richard describes the show as vaudeville nouveau.
“Comedy genre that plays with no fourth wall, we break character, we break from the story we talk to the audience if something strikes us as funny,” said Richard.
“We deviate from the script, it is extremely silly and more British style than it is American style.”
Sound & Fury were brought to Kentucky by the Kentucky Progress Association with proceeds from the night going towards improving the Kentucky community.
