The Cudgen community was out in force on Saturday for the annual Cudgen Public School fete.
With cake stalls and jumping castles, face-painting and craft stalls, there was plenty to keep the whole family entertained and plenty to spend money on and plenty of bargains to be had, according to P&C president Melissa Toms.
“It went really well,” she said.
“We probably made around $8500 profit which is a little down on previous years but we expected that with the current economic climate.”
However, despite that, she said it was obvious that the community had got right behind the school and it was a lot easier to run this year, now all the work had been done to the school’s facilities.
“Last year it was a construction site and we had to work around that,” she laughed.
“It was nice to have our new hall and canteen finished for this year. We were able to serve tea and coffee out of the canteen and there were plenty of shaded places to sit.
“We tried to keep everything under cover in case it rained.”
However, that wasn’t a problem, with the school getting fine weather for the event.
Melissa said the money raised would go towards the sound-system for the brand new school hall.
