Dr John Atchison, announcing the new introductory Guide Training Course at Saumarez Homestead said that `for anyone interested in architecture, gardens, antiques and history it will be a feast of riches’.
The three part course will be held on consecutive Saturday mornings from 10am to 12pm, starting on Saturday March 3. Each session will deal with a different aspect of the homestead and includes a lecture and tour. Course materials and morning tea are provided for each session. The subjects covered include the history of the estate, the people who lived there, the architecture of the main homestead, highlights of its collections and the history of the gardens.
The course is a unique opportunity for people who are interested in history, architecture, gardens and decorative arts, who enjoy learning and who want to share their knowledge with others, to join the team out at Saumarez.
