Harmony day took all different forms across the Tweed Coast last week.
At Kingscliff TAFE students and teachers took advantage of the fact that it coincided with World Down Syndrome day – holding a big morning tea (hosted by the hospitality students and teachers) to raise money for this worthy cause.
Bogangar Public School celebrated Harmony Day sharing multi-cultural food with lots of parents and grandparents.
All the food was provided by staff and parents and children enjoyed trying out new tastes from international countries.
At Centaur Public School, Harmony Day was combined with Grandparents Day. Gracious grannies and proud pops were entertained by the students in a cultural concert that embraced and shared the students’ diverse talents.
As the doors of the hall were opened, a sea of grandparents dispersed into their little loved ones’ classrooms to play, engage and be inspired – in keeping with Harmony Day’s 2012 theme “Sport: Play, Engage, Inspire”.
Sharing an orange heart with their grandparents, students planted their personal messages of Harmony in the school’s sandpit which left a beautiful garden of hope in the sprinkling rain.
