2011 is a significant year in the history of the Tweed Heads PCYC, marking 20 years of operation and serving the Tweed and Southern Gold Coast.
The Twin Towns Youth Club had been operating since 1957 and in 1991, transformed into a PCYC with the Florence Street building handed over to the PCYC NSW movement and a Police Officer commencing in July of that year.
This year we are commemorating 20 years of a PCYC operating in Tweed Heads, with some media stories and an Anniversary Dinner function is being held on Friday, July 29.
We are keen to hear from people involved in the history of the Tweed Heads PCYC and the Twin Towns Youth Club.
Some names that come to mind include Rod & Joy Bates, Peter Noble, the Prowse Family, G Payne, D Dack and the Coolangatta Lions Club.
We’ve been able to make contact with some of these people and would love to hear from others.
If you are interested in our 20th Anniversary Dinner in July or have some interesting information or photos relating to our history, please contact Mark Madden, Manager Tweed Heads PCYC on 55991714 or mmadden@pcycnsw.org.au.
This year the Club’s celebrates its 20th anniversary in a strong position, with over 2000 members (for the past three years) providing over 20 activities, over 20 staff and more than 30 volunteers.
