MP Richard Torbay has called on the government to detail the Department of Primary Industry jobs to be cut in the Northern Tablelands.
He said has been contacted by concerned farmers and DPI employees who believe the loss of key positions will impact negatively on the level of services and essential research.
It is understood that 300 positions in NSW will go including 90 agricultural extension officers, 110 jobs in catchment management, 50 from biosecurity and 47 staff from business services which support the departments.
Mr Torbay said farmers and DPI staff wanted clarification on how the new Local Land Services division would operate from 2014.
It will incorporate the DPI, Livestock Health and Pest Authorities and Catchment Management Authorities.
