Southern Cross University is preparing to award 108 students with scholarships at a series of presentations at its Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour and Lismore campuses
The donor-funded scholarships range in value from $500-$5000 per year and are part of the University’s Rising Stars Scholarships program which aims to help students fulfil their potential.
Development officer Karen Howes said the scholarships program provided much-needed support to many students who might otherwise struggle to finance their studies.
“The Rising Stars Scholarships program aims to recognise and contribute to student achievement, and is a vital source of support for many students who may be in difficult or challenging circumstances,” said Ms Howes.
“The scholarships enable recipients to reduce working hours to concentrate on their study, assisting their completion in a shorter time and encouraging students to stay at university to complete their degrees.
“The Rising Stars Scholarship program would not be possible without the financial support of our donors – businesses, individuals, councils or community organisations that believe – as we do – that the students of today are Australia’s future.
“The program is growing every year and we look forward to celebrating with donors, recipients and their families at the upcoming ceremonies at the three campuses.”
