The Tweed Coast’s own ‘watersports guru’, Tim Jack Adams, is doing his bit to tackle obesity and diabetes by holding a fundraising activities day on Saturday, July 9 to celebrate the grand opening of his new shop-front hire service. From 11am to 2pm, Tim will be offering half-hour kayak, surfing and stand-up paddleboarding experiences for the cost of a gold coin donation at his new Kingscliff Coastal Activities and Hire on the corner of Marine Parade and Seaview Street at the big fig tree roundabout in central Kingscliff. For an additional gold coin donation, you can also enjoy a community barbecue with face painting, kids’ games, music and marine encounters, with all proceeds from the day going to the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute to help in the fight against obesity and diabetes.“We have the most amazing outdoor playground here on the Tweed Coast,” said Tim. “There are so many opportunities for kids and families to get out and get active that we really shouldn’t have an obesity problem in our area.“One of our key goals at Kingscliff Coastal Activities and Hire is to encourage healthy outdoor activities by making it easy for locals and visitors to hire kayaks, bicycles, surfboards, stand-up paddleboards, fishing gear and more from one central point in Kingscliff.“Our grand opening day on Saturday, July 9 is a great opportunity for everyone to come down and try out all our different active lifestyle options while raising money for a really worthwhile cause.”The Tweed’s tourism and business promotional body, Destination Tweed, will be helping Tim promote the fund-raising day and the activity hire outlet as a new tourist attraction for the Tweed Coast.“We have fantastic outdoor resources here in terms of the recently-completed Tweed Coast Cycleway, Cudgen Creek and the wetlands and, of course, our beaches and surfing breaks,” said Destination Tweed CEO, Phil Villiers.“Having this hire facility in central Kingscliff will give people easy access to all the equipment they need to get out and take advantage of those facilities.“As such, we believe it has great potential to attract families and social groups for activity-based day trips and longer stays.”The Kingscliff Coastal Activities and Hire fundraising day runs from 11am to 2pm on Saturday, July 9, with equipment available from the corner of Marine Parade and Seaview Street, Kingscliff.
