Freemasons raise money for hospitals

Tweed Heads and Murwillumbah Hospitals are set for a $30,000 boost in funds thanks to the Tweed Valley Freemasons’ fundraising efforts.
The group have been running a raffle for the past few months.
The main prize, a four metre Quintrex boat and trailer package including registration and all the safety gear, was supplied by Tweed Coast Marine and attracted a lot of interest around the Tweed.
Many hours of fishing and family fun will be heading the way of Lena Fidanza and her family after her ticket was the lucky one drawn out of the barrel by the raffle’s major sponsor Alan Merlehan, manager of the Bendigo Bank at Tugun, last Sunday.
The $20K proceeds of the raffle will be supplemented by a further $10K from Masonicare, the charity arm of Freemasonry in NSW, with the proceeds going to the Tweed and Murwillumbah Hospitals.
The Freemasons issued a huge thank you to the people of the Tweed Valley and visitors to the region who purchased tickets and special thanks to the following businesses and individuals who supported the group in their efforts.
Businesses included Tweed City Shopping Centre, Centro Tweed, Sunnyside Mall, Bunnings Burleigh Heads, Bendigo Bank Tugun, Tweed Coast Marine, Quintrex Australia, Seagulls Fishing Club, About Training Australia, Budd’s Mitre 10, World Shimjang Taekwondo Academy, Sunnyside Meat and Tweed Valley Masonic Welfare Association..
The cheques will be presented to the Tweed Heads and Murwillumbah Hospital auxiliaries at the Annual Region Five Freemasons conference which will be held at the Kingscliff TAFE Campus on September 17 and 18.
