The Coolangatta Adventure Crew is officially launching on Friday, December 2 from 5.30pm–7.30pm in the new Sands Lounge Bar at the Coolangatta Sands Hotel!
The Crew, a group of local adrenalin based businesses, have ‘branded’ together to promote Coolangatta to adventure tourists and backpackers.
Under the direction of the owners and operators of each business, the Crew formed three months ago and aims to create a buzz around Coolangatta as a tourist destination.
Research conducted by the Coolangatta Sands Hostel manager Iain ‘Hopper’ McTavish, shows that Coolangatta is not a recognised ‘destination’ – as it comes under the ‘Gold Coast’ banner, generally considered by the average tourist to be Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach.
“The local business and tourism operators on the southern Gold Coast were looking for a way to combine our efforts to create more of an impact on the domestic and international travel market,” Maree O’Connor owner of Underground Surf said.
“The Coolangatta Adventure Crew was born from this idea, and the operators have really gotten behind it.
“We see this as a great opportunity for all Coolangatta hospitality and tourism traders and hope that local businesses will support the Crew in positioning Coolangatta as an exciting destination visitors can tick off their ‘bucket list’, all in one stunning location,” Maree said.
The Coolangatta Adventure Crew is comprised of Underground Surf, GC Surf Centre, Gold Coast Skydive, JM Stand Up Paddle Board, Tiger Moth Joy Rides, Reel Fishn, Cooly Dive, Alpha Car Hire, Coolangatta Whale Watch, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and the Coolangatta Sands Hostel.
