Fishing On the Tweed By David Solano
IT was a bit windy again on the Tweed but this fantastic river has plenty of good fishing spots to hit that the wind misses or blows over the top.
Terranora and Cobaki are two go to places that have plenty of nooks and crannies for fish to hide in.
At one deep hole around near PKG’s I was getting a lot of little males (flathead) which got me thinking maybe there’s a big breeder around and sure enough a few casts later and bang off goes the lure with my drag screaming.
I turned the go pro on, tightened up the drag and I’m putting hurt on this fish but it’s not stopping.
This fish is owning me! then I’ve let it get some slack and zing the lure goes flying straight past my head! fish (1) David (0), it was a good fight that left me shaking I’m pretty sure it was a big flathead because I got a little look at a big shadow.
Sunday was a busy one on the water, I ran into a fellow yakker from up the Goldy, actually he lives on the water at Broadbeach, when I asked Marcus why he didn’t fish up there, he said “just listen!” – when we stopped talking all we could hear were birds singing, oh yeah, and the wind.
I ended up taking him to one of my spots and we both got into the flathead. Cheers.
