Extra police for Tweed/Byron

By TANIA PHILLIPS

TWEED/Byron Local Area Command is set to receive five more police positions according to Acting Premier Andrew Stoner.
Mr Stoner made the announcement on Monday about the extra police, part of 20 earmarked for Northern NSW.
“The government recently committed to up to 90 additional police officers to Local Area Commands in Northern NSW,” Mr Stoner said.
“We are getting on with the job of recruiting additional officers to commands in Northern NSW.”
Four LAC’s, Coffs/Clarence, Manning/Great Lakes, Port Stephens and Tweed/Byron will receive five police each.
Mr Stoner said the additional officers would boost the ranks of North Coast Local Area Commands as they continued to address local communities’ crime and safety concerns.
“This increase further highlights how the NSW Liberals and Nationals are delivering in government, by allocating frontline services to where they are needed, including in our regions,” Mr Stoner said.
“Since coming to government, we have added 57 officers to commands in Northern NSW.”
