THE ladies at Tweed Heads Ladies’ Bowling Club donated $1500 towards the Tweed Valley Relay For Life 2014 to be held on 15 and 16 March at the Cudgen Leagues Club, Kingscliff.
“Monies raised goes towards research, education programs and support services such as the Cancer Information Centre at Tweed Hospital”, community relations co-ordinator at Cancer Council NSW Yonit Kittay said.
The Cancer Council’s annual event is a unique opportunity to bring the community together over an overnight event where teams of people take turns to walk or run around the track, sending a message of hope and support to those affected by cancer.
It’s a jam-packed community event, that is organised by local community volunteers who are enthusiastic and dedicated to bringing something fun to all age groups.
With so many locals being diagnosed with cancer in the Tweed Valley region each year, its an important event to get behind.
“We need the entire community to support us,” Yonit said.
“It’s a great cause and having the support from clubs such as the Tweed Heads Ladies Bowling Club is so important to us. It strengthens our spirits and passion for the event.”
It may still be several months until the Tweed Valley Relay For Life 2104 but early bird registration is still open until January so why not register a team and become part of an inspiring communal activity.
