The Reverend Bruce Sligo, recently appointed Rector of the Parish of Murwillumbah, reflects on the restored, historic, stained glass window, depicting Christ in the garden of Gethsemane.
The window, one of the most beautiful in the Northern Rivers district, was based on one in Winchester, England, and donated in 1915 by the Higgins family, owners of the original Imperial Hotel.
It was installed in the wooden, 1909, church on the site of the current TAFE College and placed in the current All Saints’ Church in 1976.
Fr Bruce is preparing to conduct his first services of worship for the Easter Season in Murwillumbah.
Good Friday worship, on April 6, will be at 9am at All Saints’, Murwillumbah and also at Holy Trinity, Uki.
On Easter Sunday, April 8, worship will be conducted at all parish churches. All Saints’, Murwillumbah at 7am and 9am, Holy Trinity, Uki at 9am, St Peter’s, Tumbulgum at 11am and St John’s, Tyalgum at 11am.
