SPRING has well and truly sprung as has the final school term of the year and local schools are turning their thoughts to fund-raising, fetes and all that jazz.
Cudgen and Fingal Public schools both held their major fund-raisers late last month while Bogangar Public will hold their maiden fete today at their school grounds.
The event had been set down for last month but bad weather forced its postponement.
Cudgen’s fete is an annual event and legendary in the village and along the Tweed Coast.
You have to get up pretty early to get some of the bargains and most prized items. As ever it was well supported with volunteers and supporters turning up early to help make it a success.
It was the first time in a long time that the Fingal event had been held with the fete committee just hoping to raise the profile of the small school and build a friendly community event. They not only did that but were also able to make a profit – which the P&C will now look at spending on items for the school.
