CCTV footage released of armed robbery suspect

Tweed/Byron Local Area Command Detectives have released CCTV footage of a man they would like to interview after an armed robbery on the State’s north coast.

About 8pm on Monday, January 28, a man armed with a firearm entered a shopping centre on Leisure Drive, Banora Point. He threatened an employee in one of the shops, demanding cash.

The store attendant handed over money before the man fled on foot. No-one was injured during the incident. Tweed Heads Police established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist officers. Detectives have now released CCTV footage of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is depicted in the footage as being of Caucasian appearance, aged about 35 years, 168-173cm tall, and wearing a black T-shirt. Anyone who may have information about the incident is asked to contact Tweed/Byron Local Area Command Detectives or Crime Stoppers.
