They came, they saw, they concreted….. built shelves, knocked down walls and even re-organised Cudgen Headland Surf Lifesaving Club.
The Tooheys New Crew, headed up by league legend Paul “The Chief” Harragon and Paul Gillispie, spent three days remodelling the ground floor of the Kingscliff-based surf club with a lot of help from local club members and volunteers.
Club chairman David Field said the group managed to do “thousands of dollars worth of work” that otherwise may not have happened.
“They came on Thursday morning and stayed to 7pm at night,” he said.
“On Friday they were here from 7am to 8pm and then they worked from 7am until noon on Saturday.”
The new work allows tthe Club to now have the rescue truck and other equipment at the front of the club, unobstructed and ready to go.
The work has come just in time for a busy month for the club, including this weekend’s triathlon, two weeks of NSW Surf Lifesaving Titles and the Malfunction Longboard surfing.
