Students across the Tweed Coast swapped school books for gardening gloves and their pencils for garbage bags for the annual Clean Up Australia Day.
And while most of Australia spent Sunday cleaning up their regions, the students got in a day or two early.
Most schools concentrated on their own school yards, making sure all the papers, wrappers and other rubbish made it into the specially provided bright yellow garbage bags.
Over at Bogangar Public the younger students concentrated on the playground while the older kids headed to the beach to make sure a small portion of the Maggies Beach area, which was recently named NSW Clean Beach of the Year, stayed in tip-top shape.
