BRING out your denim and your bling and head to the Saltbar for the Denim and Diamonds Ovarian Cancer Fundraiser.
The event, on 23 August from 6pm until late, is the brainchild of local woman Peta Telling.
“I lost my mum 12 months ago to ovarian cancer,” she said of her reasons to run the event.
“Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death of all gynaecological cancers. It is an insidious disease that often strike without warning. Across Australia one woman dies every 10 hours from this disease.”
She said the key to changing the statistics was early detection. However there are no simple or effective early screening methods.
Peta said the event was not only a chance to raise money and awareness but to have a bit of fun too.
There will be fashion parades, raffles, prizes for the best dressed, a DJ and giftbags on arrival.
Tickets, $55 per head, are available from the Saltbar or from Peta on 0407 673 701.
