Tweed Council gets smart

By TANIA PHILLIPS

THE Tweed Shire Council has entered the social networking age, relaunching their smartphone app.
The app, now available to download free from the Apple Store and Google Play, has been relaunched as part of last week’s Local Government week celebrations and now has some brand new features, according to the council’s acting general manager Troy Green.
“Smartphones are an increasingly popular channel for our customers to access information – providing a range of information and services they want, when they need it,” Mr Green said.
“With the council’s new website due to be launched later this year, these improvements are all part of providing greater customer service to our community.
“The usage statistics for our app show the alerts and services and development assessment tracking functions are the most popular. This is followed by council information including contact numbers, meeting dates, councillor details and council’s calendar of events.
“Some of the new features as part of the redesign includes access to contact information, including numbers for your councillors and a dedicated area with emergency contact information,” Mr Green said.
Tweed Shire Council’s app has been redesigned and provides a wide range of council services and information for your smartphone, tablet or mobile device, including the following.
View road closures on MyRoadInfo and other alerts and services including water and sewer notifications, water meter reading dates and Clarrie Hall Dam.
Search development applications, make a property inquiry or book a building inspection.
Check if a sportsground is open or closed.
Search waste collection days for your street.
Report a problem – send a customer request for a range of issues.
View and search council tenders (login required).
Check what’s on in the Tweed with the calendar of events.
Find council/councillor contact information and meeting dates.
