TWEED District’s Junior summer competitions start this Friday and Saturday and what fantastic competitions they are going to be.
The winter competitions saw 32 teams competing but this summer will see 55 teams competing – an increase of 72 per cent.
Junior tennis in the Tweed District continues to thrive and with the growing numbers a Division 6 has been introduced to the Saturday fixtures which has 12 teams playing.
Juniors start in Saturday morning in Division 6 and play their way through to Division 1.
When juniors are too good for Division 1 they can then aim at the Friday night competition.
The new Friday Night Junior Premier League competition, proudly sponsored by Ray White Banora Point, will have 11 teams playing in A and B Grades.
With a number of Tweed District’s best juniors on show, we’re now attracting players from the Southern Gold Coast as well.
Tecnifibre, a major tennis supplier, has also come on board to assist with tennis gear for the winners.
It makes for an exciting summer series.
On the tournament front, many juniors have just finished the variety of tournaments on offer over the holidays.
Another standout is Amber Molloy who has just won the U16 Girls singles and doubles titles at the Beenleigh Open Age Junior tournament.
It was another great effort from Amber and she continues to rise up the rankings.
