Barefoot for the kids

This weekend Tweed residents will have a chance to be “barefoot in the park – well on the green” all in a good cause.
The event? A Barefoot Bowls Day on Sunday, June 12 from noon to 3pm for just $10 on the indoor green at Tweed Heads Bowls Club.
The bowls day will raise money as part of the Gold FM radio station GIVE ME FIVE FOR KIDS appeal.
GIVE ME FIVE FOR KIDS is a community based appeal that raises money for Children’s Wards and Children’s services at Gold Coast and Tweed Hospital.
The key to the appeal’s success is that money raised locally is spent locally.
This multi-faceted fundraiser incorporates a wide variety of community events and activities including the barefoot bowls day.
Over the past 15 years, GOLD FM has raised over $2 million, and this year we hope to raise over $150,000 for the children’s wards!
Breakfast announcer, Bridgett Daley said “GIVE ME FIVE FOR KIDS really brought out some amazing stories in our community.
“Each year you see our local communities digging deep and helping us facilitate a great appeal and a great result, even though times are tough,” she said.
“All money raised benefits the local hospitals and we are incredibly proud that we can be part of it.”
