THE Carnivale, held on the foreshore at Cabarita, attracted more than 3000 people this year.
And according to event organiser Suzie Bourke a raffle on the day raised $1595.75 to make next year’s event event bigger and better.
She said all stall holders were delighted with atmosphere, organisation and crowd and want to be invited back next year.
“Dune Care were thrilled with the number interested in local indigenous plants,” she said.
“Tom the MC had a whale of a time and did a great job.
“It is simply lovely to be an active part of this wonderful community and to meet so many friends at the Carnivale who just love having a good time. The Carnivale shows the strength of our community spirit because everyone just pitches in and helps.”
Divided into various section, visitors chose to jump into the vibrant energy at the Performance Green get their artistic juices flowing in the Creative Corner or relax in the Wellbeing and food district.
Unexpected crowd pleaser at the Carnivale was ‘Us the Band’. Little known by the mainstream audience this inspiring band was formed three years ago as a Lifebridge Day Activity. Since then they have won two first place prizes through the Gold Coast Esteidford in both 2012 and 2013.
The Performance Green featured one highlight after another. Synergy Sounds set the pace with an interactive drumming performance, Tara Williams operatic powers had the kids dancing on their toes, Stephen Lovelight, Alan Kirk, Greg Pimm and Pete Wilson and Magnetic Drillgang showed of their singer songwriter talents. While Energy Entertainments wooed the crowd with a daring fire performance.
Caba Creative president Duke Albada was pleased with this year’s event.
“This was an incredible team effort and everyone involved can be proud of the achievement,” she said.
“Caba Creative definitely reached the goals of showcasing local talent, improving local economic viability, putting Cabarita Beach on the map and last but not least improving community spirit.”
