Fishing On the Tweed with David Solano
I DID something I haven’t done for while on Saturday night and that is bait fishing.
I went with my mate Pete Kyvetos, we set up shop right next to Boyd’s Bay bridge and proceeded to cast stinky pilchards at the pylons and moored boats. It was pretty quiet, with the only action apart from Pete dropping a nice fish was little bream bites.
Sunday, and I was back to surface fishing the canals in the yak.
I started at daybreak and worked my way along the banks casting the Berkley Pop Dog at any structure I came across.
With the weather warming up, the surface bite should only keep getting better, as with last week I caught a lot of little trevs and a few legal bream – oh, and I also got smoked a couple of times by fish I did not see.
By the way, I didn’t see another shark but did see a bloke swimming in the same canal, I told him about my shark incident the weekend before but he wasn’t worried, he told me has been swimming there for over 20 years! So there you go. Cheers.
