TWEED Coast’s Madura Tea Estate is the toast of North America after collecting to major awards last week.
The Clothiers Creek business has taken out two first prizes at the North American Tea Championships.
The prestigious awards are the only independent competition judged by professional cuppers and aimed at choosing the highest quality and best tasting teas, commercially available in the North American marketplace.
Madura Tea Estate part owner Gary Davey said Madura took out the Black Tea Blends Category with it’s unflavoured Madura Premier Blend and the Green Tea Blended Flavoured tea category with their Green tea and Australian Lemon Myrtle blend.
There Madura Pure Assam was also awarded third place in the blended-flavoured tea category.
“It is an extremely prestigious award for us to win in a very crowded market,” Gary said.
“We were up against all the big players and as a small Aussie-owned company to take out two gold and a bronze was just amazing.”
