The festive season has only just finished and already Volunteering Gold Coast has been inundated by people wanting to give up their time to better our Gold Coast community.
The office opened its doors again on January 4 with a flood of volunteer enquiries and it was all hands on deck. Staff had to be pulled from their usual roles to help answer phones.
Volunteering Gold Coast Office Coordinator Jodie Terry said “It was a fantastic way to start the year – we are all go, go, go! We endeavour to provide an outstanding service to everyone who comes through our door. At the moment we have over 3500 active volunteers on our records and we provide these inspiring individuals to over 300 Not For Profits on the Gold Coast,” Jodie commented.
Volunteering Gold Coast won the Westpac Gold Coast Business Excellence Award 2011 for the most Outstanding Not For Profit Business. This award was presented for the work they contribute to the development and active participation within the Gold Coast community.
The community has really come back from the festive season with a great attitude, volunteering is extremely rewarding. Volunteering Gold Coast wouldn’t be able to survive if it wasn’t for the 60 volunteers helping run the operation.
“We need all the help we can get at the moment” Jodie commented.
Volunteering Gold Coast needs volunteer receptionists available two days a week from 8:30am-4pm.
“I’ve been volunteering as a receptionist with Volunteering Gold Coast for over a year now and I’m sad to say goodbye. I’m always busy and I get to meet so many people that are not only friends but have become my family,” volunteer receptionist Wendy Eaton said.
