Sleeping Beauty a first

SLEEPING Beauty the Musical is a show of firsts – first kiss, first love and a first for many of the Tweed Theatre Company cast too.
The show plays over the school holidays at the Tweed Civic Centre and will delight young audiences who still believe in magic.
It is the first time Director Natalie Trengove has written a play, and six of the 30 strong cast make their stage debut. It is also the first leading role for Tahlia Traecey who plays the Sleeping Beauty, Princess Crystal.
Fifteen-year-old Tahlia has been acting and dancing since the age of two years and has been in many local and high school productions.
Her biggest role so far has been playing at QPAC in ‘Annie’, which starred Anthony Warlow and Todd McKenney.
Her audition for Sleeping Beauty bowled the director over and a special dance was incorporated into the show because of her talent.
“I’m nervous but excited,” Tahlia said.
“I have danced Sleeping Beauty as part of the Queensland Ballet junior extension program and I would say that was harder because ballet is so competitive – but this is more fun.”
