Around and About by Jayne Henry
THE PGA has been run and won and as we approach the end of the year, we hope you enjoy your time around and about the Tweed this week.
For those who want to know what to do with all this wind of late, why not pop over the border and visit the Kirra Kite Festival which will run from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 November. Held in Roughton Park in Kirra, there are a number of fun activities for people of all ages including the Sunset Film Jam on Friday night from 6.30-9.30pm which is a film festival featuring Point of View camera work.
The theme for this inaugural event will be ‘Freedom’ – Freedom to Travel, freedom to surf, what does freedom mean to you? Other interesting events include the Flavours of Kirra on Saturday as well as night kite flying presented by Queensland Kite Society and fire shows in the Park. Family Fun Day will round up the event on Sunday with a jam-packed program of entertainment including kids activities and workshops, delicious cuisine, markets and rides. For more information on where to go and what to do, contact the event organizer on 0415 047 096.
FROM flying kites to succeeding in business, the Kingscliff and District Chamber of Commerce will host their last business breakfast for 2013 this coming Tuesday 19 November at the Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club from 7am. The president encourages all business owners to attend this breakfast and work to develop greater ties within the business and greater community.
