Expand your knowledge of colour by learning how to use complementary colours to great effect, with a course by artist Sharon Muir.
The course will be held at the art gallery in Murwillumbah on May 22.
Sharon Muir is a professional visual artist, working across a range of fine art disciplines, including drawing, painting and printmaking.
Her last two solo exhibitions were in response to ecological concerns and her work has been selected for nationally recognised competitions and exhibitions.
She has a Diploma of Fine Art and has been teaching a variety of art subjects, including colour, for more than twenty years. She has travelled widely throughout Australia, including three years touring outback QLD and NSW as part of the Flying Arts Team.
Her varied teaching roles have encompassed working as a freelance workshop tutor, adult education tutor and community arts facilitator. She’s an enthusiastic teacher with vast experience who enjoys nurturing her students’ creativity.
The course will teach students to understand how this dynamic colour scheme is so important when working with a colour palette.
Learn how to recognise and use complements when mixing colour, under painting or glazing colour over colour. Working with the medium of gouache (opaque watercolour), we will produce a series of colour studies to take home as a valuable reference for future artworks.
Experience is gained through practical hands-on tasks using coloured paper and paint, with plenty of visual examples to inspire you.
This workshop is open to anyone interested in colour and applicable to any medium. The class is particularly suited to students who have completed Sharon’s previous colour workshop but beginners are welcome also.
