The second Tweed Battle of the Bands held at the Tweed Civic Centre on Saturday night went to Byron band Alice Blu.
More than 200 people were on hand to watch the action as the six finalists went through their paces for the judges and punters.
Alice Blu, an Indy outfit from Byron, won the title ahead of second-placed Gold Coast punk group Double Lined Minority, with Byron folk-roots band Potato Potato in third place.
An extra surprise fourth prize of support gig with Fat Albert at the Great Northern went to Tweed punk/metal outfit Arcanine, featuring drummer Zak Britton.
Organiser Kristie Hedley, secretary of Safer Communities Aliance, said it was a tough job once again for the judges.
“Again the judges and everyone in general was amazed at the talent that emerged and are really excited about the future of some of the bands,” she said.
“We would like to thank Tweed Shire Council, Euphoric Productions and Rory Curtis (Good Guys) and our army of volunteers for their ongoing support.
“We will be back in Youth Week, April 2012, to do it all over again, so would love to hear from anyone interested in sponsoring this great event.”
