Murwillumbah High School’s Elliott Centre was a hive of activity over the weekend as hundreds of people visited the Model Railway and Hobby Exhibition.
More than thirty exhibitors provided a huge variety of displays which included: model trains in many different realistic settings, model planes, model cars, wood crafting and weaving.
The expo is a bi-annual fundraiser organised by Murwillumbah High School P&C which attracts enthusiasts from as far away as Grafton, Brisbane Toowoomba and Armidale.
When asked about the event, one of the key members of the organising committee, retired Murwillumbah High School teacher, Phil Flynn, said, ‘The expo was a great success with more than 1000 people coming through the door and over $5000 raised.”
According to Murwillumbah High Principal, Warrick Simmons, more than 20 volunteers worked throughout the weekend ensuring the event ran smoothly which included helping award-winning canteen manager Marilyn Butters keep up the food supplies for the visitors and exhibitors.
