TWO of the oldest and one of the newest Tweed Coast Schools will hold their major fundraisers for the year in the next two weeks.
In the next two weeks Bogangar, Cudgen and Fingal will all hold their fetes.
On Friday 18 October, Bogangar Public School will hold it’s first school fete at their grounds at 3pm.
Principal Cath Lalor said it promises to be very exciting for the school, which opened in 2004.
“Bogangar has never had a fete, so we have a couple of enthusiastic parents who thought it would not only be a good fundraiser, but great for our school community,” she said.
“The Cabarita/Bogangar community is a very active one, as a school we like to be part of it! It has been well supported by parents and local businesses.”
The Bogangar Fiesta will feature carnival rides for all ages as well as stalls and a mass of entertainers and sideshow stalls.
Meanwhile at the other end of the spectrum, one of the longest running fetes, at Cudgen public school, will be held on 26 October.
The Cudgen School Fete is a local institution with fete goers lining up early in the morning to buy the much-prized baked goods (including Felicia Cecil’s famous sponge cakes). The old-style school fete will be held form 9am to 1pm on Saturday 26 October.
The kids will be kept busy with many activities including; the super slide, pony rides, a jumping castle and tea cup rides. In the village market place, there will be local fresh produce stalls, plant stall, homemade cakes and sweets stall, secondhand goods and bric-a-brac stall, handmade arts and crafts stall, children’s craft activities and water yo-yos. Meanwhile things also kick off at 9am on 26 October as well at Fingal.
This is the first fete the small school has held in many years and they’ve gone all out with rides, trash ‘n’ treasure, live music, Indigenous dancers, barbecues, raffles and all the fun of the fair.
