What transport is there available in the Tweed Shire and how do you access it? That’s the question that will be answered at an information day being held at Sunnyside Shopping Centre on Thursday, June 23. A similar day was held at Tweed City Shopping Centre, South Tweed Heads earlier this week.
The day will be an opportunity for Tweed Coast residents to come along, pick up a timetable, and find out about bus and taxi services, community transport and Northern Rivers Carpool.
Information will be available from Tweed Shire Council, the Northern Rivers Social Development Council, Tweed Ballina Byron Community Transport, private bus operators, NSW Community Health and local taxi companies.
Residents can also learn about accessible transport, such as the new low-floor buses, plus travel concessions, including the new $2.50 RED ticket for holders of NSW Seniors, or Pensioner Concession cards
There will also be information available about active transport, with copies of local cycle maps available.
Tweed Shire Council Social Planner Robin Spragg said staff from Council and Northern Rivers Social Development Council would be available to talk with residents about their transport needs and experiences.
“Transport information days are a great opportunity for you to have a chat with local transport operators, who will be happy to answer any questions you may have about services in the area,” Mr Spragg said.
“So, if you want to get out of the house but aren’t sure how to get to where you want to be, come along to a transport information day and find out.”
The information day will be held at: Sunnyside Mall, Murwillumbah, Thursday, June 23 – 9am to 1pm.
