STANDING side stage at a Peter Tosh concert in Germany in the ’80s – Icehouse frontman Iva Davies got an idea.
It was an idea that stayed with him – swapping the responsibility of being the front man for playing in the back of a reggae band. And while he never quite did that – the event has inspired Dub House – two recent concerts in Sydney and Melbourne.
And with the shows – which saw Icehouse “reggae” some of their biggest and best loved hits – proving a huge success. Don’t be surprised if some of these songs pop up in their next gig – at Southport on Friday 17 January.
Icehouse are returning to Queensland, with very special guests Models.
The band’s catalogue of anthems, hits, musical experimentation and high level of musical dedication has made them a household name in Australia with an amazing eight top 10 albums and over 30 Top 40 singles including We Can Get Together, Electric Blue, Hey Little Girl, Crazy and the alternative national anthem to Australians everywhere, Great Southern Land.
They have sales records equivalent to platinum albums locally and internationally.
Joining will be ’80s heroes – Models. Yep Kelly, Duffield, Price and Ferrie are back to showcase new material and play some old favourites. Models celebrate the musical adventurousness, sly humour and pioneering nature of the early Australian alternative music scene with a sound that is as fresh now as it was then.
