Bring your chopsticks for a delectable eastern culinary journey with celebrity Natalie Gruzlewski as the Tweed celebrates the best of Asian cuisine at Bamboo Restaurant at Grand Mercure (formerly Santai) Casuarina on Friday, August 19.
The Bamboo lunch will also be raising funds for Effective Aid International, that is run by a local Gold Coast couple Ian and Judy Aitchison. The Aitchisons have worked in the refugee camps along the Burmese and Thailand border for nine years, changing the lives of thousands of refugees fleeing the Burmese war.
More recently, Effective Aid International celebrated graduation ceremonies at various locations in Thailand including a school with 450 students at the remote Maela Oon Refugee Camp, a seven-hour drive from Chaingmai.
The exclusive three-course luncheon is to celebrate the launch of the Ocean Road Magazine’s winter issue and will include matching wines, a live cooking demonstration by awarding-winning chef Craig ‘Robbo’ Robertson and Asian-inspired entertainment.
Craig Robertson is an accom-plished five-star chef with more than two decades’ experience. He will be revealing a few cooking secrets and oodles of flair in a live cooking show performed exclusively for the Asian Luncheon’s guests.
“The Asian dishes that will be created at the lunch will offer an assortment of flavours straight from the heart of this region, with a modern Australian twist,”
said Craig.
“I follow traditional oriental experiences from Thailand, Japan, China and all over South East Asia, with each dish staying true to its roots, yet with a modern twist. I’m looking forward to getting out of the kitchen and showcasing the distinctive balance of different flavours that goes into achieving a sensational Asian dish.
“We will also have guest chefs performing for the live cooking show for the guests’ enjoyment.”
Guests will also be entertained by performers who will demonstrate the vibrant and exciting cultures and traditions from this region of the world. The Sakura dancers meaning ‘cherry blossoms’, will introduce culture, history and the spirit of Japan through traditional dance.
