TWEED District Men Of League (MOL) are looking for footballers to play lawn bowls at Coolangatta on Sunday, 13 October – just don’t bring your boots!
It might sound like a strange request but it is all in the name of charity with MOL raising money to help former footballers and their families who have fallen on misfortune or difficult times.
Organiser Kel Judd said no gear was required and a fun day was assured.
“There is a $30 charge which includes provision of bowls, green fees, some drinks and a great lunch with some really nice people,” said Judd.
“We have a triples competition organised and all are welcome. Former or present-day footballers, their families or anyone who follows rugby league will be assured of a great day with play starting at 9am (Qld time)” he said.
“Great prizes will again be on offer and it would be good is the local footy clubs could each enter a few teams.”
Judd said he was taking names for this the fourth annual MOL bowls day which has already attracted growing interest.
