ROD Gregory brings unique Aussie humour to life with The Old Fella.
His risqué routine ignores boring political correctness – it’s ageist, sexist and hilarious.
The Old Fella jumps the barriers between age groups, gender and beliefs by taking a bit of the country into city living rooms.
At almost 70 Rod leapt to fame as he wowed Australia’s Got Talent audiences with no less than five appearances including the grand final.
Ten million viewers saw Rod take the Australian comedy stage by storm in a style not seen since Paul Hogan’s heyday.
This late bloomer turned adversity into comedy success after a back injury forced him off the farm. Rod said he was scared stiff of retirement.
“At 67 it’s not easy to find a job so I enrolled in a 10-week course in comedy,” he said.
“The plan was to learn to write funny short stories about my farming days.
“The tutor offered me a weekly spot in his comedy theatre. I went on to have my own show in the 2011 Adelaide Fringe Festival and then appeared on Channel 7’s Australia’s Got Talent. I ended up coming fourth in the final. You wouldn’t be dead for quids.”
Now, at 70 years of age, Rod is performing three or four times a week to packed houses around Australia. His battered old Akubra and good old Aussie humour has made Rod’s Old Fella show a bit of an Aussie favourite.
